HEADS Engaging Learners with Complex Needs

One Day Training at Hadrian School, Newcastle upon Tyne

£150.00 per delegate (Early Bird Discount £95.00 if you book before 23rd July 2022).


This HEADS training course will be very practical; interactive; include discussion time; video and case study examples.

Included in the day will be:

The importance of engagement to learning

Assessment – capturing and sharing success

Planning the provision for a learner with complex needs:

o   Curriculum, timetables and activities

o   The environment

o   Professional practices

o   Supporting communication

o   Sensory processing and diets

o   Emotional and social development

This training is for professionals who work in specialist settings who want to develop their knowledge and confidence of planning for, supporting and teaching children and young people with a range of complex/additional needs.

The training will be facilitated by Loveday Fisk, Senior Teacher at Hadrian School.  Loveday is a current outstanding practitioner working with children with complex needs for the last 14 years. She co-wrote the school’s sensory and therapeutic curriculum and leads on communication, curriculum and engagement for the school.  Loveday is currently working with EQUALS writing a new Communication Handbook.
