This new one day course offered by HEADS Training is aimed at Practitioners in the EYFS and Primary Sector. This one day guide to meeting the varied and challenging needs of learning disabled children in a mainstream setting will signpost best practice and offer curriculum support.

Course outline:

The morning session will focus on key aspects in relation to planning for ‘learning to learn’ and help staff assess, plan and review appropriate starting points for teaching and learning.

This session will include information, advice and support on behaviour, sensory profiles, aspects of Thrive and emotional resilience, engagement and will signpost colleagues to key literature and resources.

The afternoon session will focus on curriculum delivery and will share the new EQUALS pre-formal, informal, semi-formal and formal curriculum resources that can be delivered in a mainstream setting.

Outcomes for delegates:

  • Clearly ‘tuned in’ to life without levels
  • Clearly focused on what ‘learning to learn’ looks like in a mainstream setting
  • Clearly informed about the new EQUALS curriculum resources for learning disabled pupils
  • Confident to know where to look for advice and support to help children with learning disabilities succeed in a mainstream setting
