This practical course will help you to look again at your outdoor spaces. Without costing a fortune we will enable you to keep the spaces interesting and encourage pupils to explore and be active outside.

The course will show you how some schools use their spaces during lessons, lunch times and during out of school activities. You will involve your pupils in planning and arranging activities and outdoor classrooms. The course will save time travelling when you may be able to do some activities just outside your own classroom.

Seasons, the weather and the time of day are all considerations as well as age appropriate cross curricular activities. Bring a plan of your outdoor space and how and when (Time of day, number of times a day / week) your outdoor spaces are used. Are there any adjacent facilities (Park / Allotments / Woods) that you use or environments you can borrow? Have you been involved with ‘Forest Schools’ or your local ‘Outdoor Centre’? Have you done a ‘sound’ audit of your outdoor spaces at different times of the year?

Notes and a DVD will support the course and your future planning, we look forward to sharing our vision of being outside.
