BITESIZE TRAINING COURSES
HEADS run a range of training courses throughout the year aimed at parents/carers and professionals.
Our bitesize courses take place in the main at our Training Centre based at Hadrian School in Newcastle upon Tyne.
HEADS has been running for 17 years and in this time we have trained over 23000 people.
We pride ourselves on offering high quality training around Special Educational Needs, Health and Welfare, as well as accredited training in areas such as Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Rebound Therapy, First Aid and Moving and Handling.
We work with school and organisation across the country and we also offer outreach support nationally, facilitating training courses at your own venue.
All of our bitesize courses are £50.00 per delegate.

INTRODUCTION TO AUTISM – 10th December 2024
We will consider autism as a condition and how it impacts on the lives of individuals and how, in turn this can reflect on their learning. We will develop an understanding of how individuals with this condition may need to be supported in a school environment and the adaptations that can be made. Special reference will be made to sensory issues and the importance of working in a person centered way.
INTRODUCTION TO FIRST AID – 16th January 2025
This 3 hour course will give you the first aid basics to help you assist your child, your friends and family with any support they may need. It’s always useful to have some first aid knowledge as you never know when an emergency may occur! The course will cover elements such as dealing with cuts, breaks, burns etc, but will also cover things like choking, CPR and defib. We will cater the course to the parents attending to match their child’s ages and needs
INTRODUCTION TO SENSORY LOSS – 19th February 2025
This course will help delegates to learn how our senses affect us on a daily basis. How it feels to have Sensory Loss. Finding out what can cause Sensory Loss. Ways to help and support people who have a Sensory Loss, alongside disabling conditions such as learning difficulties/physical disabilities. Knowing who the organisations are who provide support for individuals who have a Sensory Loss.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TRAINING – 26th March 2025
HEADS Training in partnership with Hadrian School and Traincon Learning are facilitating a Mental Health Awareness Training course very soon. We would like the course to take place physically at the HEADS Training Centre at Hadrian school where we have strict COVID practices in place, but depending on what delegates preferences are we can facilitate via zoom too, just let us know what is practicable for yourself if you would like to book.
COMPLIMENTARY THERAPIES – 8th May 2025
Consider how complementary therapies can be used in person centred and holistic ways to help manage stress, pain and sleep problems. Introduce a number of complementary therapies which can be used by everyone. Discuss how to give a hand and foot massage. Learn a number of relaxation techniques. How these approaches have been used to help individuals with a range of problems.
AN INTRODUCTION TO ADHD – 24th June 2025
An introduction to what ADHD is and how people with ADHD may experience the world. Some common issues people with ADHD may have and ideas on how to support them. A celebration of neurodiversity and how being different can be positive for individuals and others.
