COVID UPDATE
From all the staff at HEADS Training we hope you are all safe and well and things where possible for you are improving and returning to normality.
It’s been a testing time for all organisations due to the ongoing pandemic. HEADS Training continues to put safe measures in place for all of its training courses.
HEADS Training has been working with Qualsafe and Ofqual who are the awarding and accrediting bodies for First Aid Training nationally. Advice has been taken and support given by the bodies including information on safe practice, risk assessments, PPE, and social distancing.

HEADS facilitate a range of First Aid Training courses that are all hosted at our new HEADS Training Centre at Hadrian School. All of our training is facilitated by experienced tutors, some of whom are paramedics
The Nationally Accredited courses we offer include:
- Full First Aid at Work Training Level 3 – 3 day course
- Paediatric First Aid Training Level 3 – 2 day course (Ofsted/EYFS Guidelines)
- Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 – 1 day course
- First Aid Re-qualification course Level 3 – 2 day course
- CPR/AED Training (defibrillation) – Level 2 – 3 hour courses
- Medical Gases – Level 3 – 1 day course
- Anaphylaxis and Auto Injector Training – Level 2 – 1/2 Day

Our continuous aim is to improve the standard of First Aid Training, using our wealth of experience and expertise, tailoring all courses to suit any environment.

All of our courses are awarded by Qualsafe and Regulated by Ofqual.

First Aid Training Course Dates 2022/23
As an educational establishment you have a legal obligation to ensure you have appropriate First Aid provisions in place meeting the criteria of not only Ofsted & the Department for Education, but also the Health and Safety Executive (First Aid Regulations 1981). If you’re unsure of your requirements or number of First Aiders needed we would be more than happy to advise you.
Full First Aid at Work – Level 3
3 Days (18 hours) – 8.30am – 4.30pm

This comprehensive Level 3 First Aid at Work (F.A.W) course is Ideal for staff intending to act as a First Aider at Work. The course is designed to provide the First Aider with the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort of the casualty.
Our instructors deliver dynamic courses that relate to real life situations. As a result your staff will be able to deal confidently and competently with a wide range of First Aid situations that could arise in your school.
At the end of the course, your staff will have gained a recognised qualification lasting 3 years. Please note that it is HIGHLY recommended by the H.S.E that staff undergo annual update training, this will be detailed on their certificate.

First Aid at Work Re-Qualification – Level 3
2 Days (12 hours) 8.30am – 4.30pm

This Level 3 course is only available to staff who currently hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate which is due to expire. It ensures that their First Aid skills are refreshed with latest procedures and techniques.
Please Note: Staff MUST bring their previous certificate with them to the course.
At the end of the course, your staff will have gained a recognised qualification lasting 3 years. Please note that it is HIGHLY recommended by the H.S.E that staff undergo annual update training, this will be detailed on their certificate.

Paediatric First Aid – Level 3
2 Days (12 hours) Ofsted/EYFS Recommended – 8.30am – 4.30pm

This comprehensive 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Course has been designed specifically for individuals who provide care for babies and children under 8 years old. The course syllabus has been designed in accordance with the UK resuscitation guidelines (2010) and meets the requirements of:
- Ofsted
- Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework
- Pre-School Learning Alliance
- NCMA (National Child Minders Association)
- Sure Start
- NVQ in childcare and education. Our trainers have real life experience of Paediatric First Aid emergencies, allowing us to pass on their knowledge, making the course more relevant and interesting for your staff.
- Usually run over two days your staff will learn a high level of practical skill and theoretical knowledge, so that they can deal promptly and competently with situations that may arise when caring for children and babies.
- The course is suitable for any worker that provides care for babies and children under 8 years old.
At the end of the course, your staff will have gained a recognised qualification lasting 3 years.

Emergency First Aid at Work – Level 3
1 Day Course – 8.30am – 4.30pm
(£100.00 per delegate)
This Level 3 course is ideal for staff who attend school outings/trips or to support full First Aiders at Work. Your staff will leave this course will give you the knowledge and skills to manage and recognise life threatening situations in a variety of settings.
At the end of the course, your staff will have gained a recognised qualification lasting 3 years. Please note that it is HIGHLY recommended by the H.S.E that staff undergo annual update training, this will be detailed on their certificate.
The Emergency First Aid in the Workplace course can be facilitated on site to suit the needs of your school or organisation.

Basic First Aid Overview (Appointed Person) Course
3 hours
(£40.00 per delegate)
This workshop can be run in school for Lunchtime Staff, Parents etc. over a three hour session. An attendance certificate will be provided. (£375 for a group of 12 staff)
Please note that this is not a qualification but provides useful basic first aid information for staff to act until a first aider arrives on the scene or the emergency services are called and can be held in your school.
Course Content includes:
- The role of an appointed person
- What to do in an emergency
- CPR
- First Aid for an unconscious casualty
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Choking
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) – Level 2 (3 Hours)
(£75.00 per delegate)
This 3 hour course is designed to instruct your staff in the simple use of an AED. Our instructors have real life experience in cardiac life support. Their expertise combined with our simulation equipment enables them to make this type of training relevant, ensuring that your staff will have the skills and knowledge to use an AED safely, competently and effectively. This course can be delivered on request.
This training is available on request at your venue.
Annual Refresher Training for all First Aid Courses – 3 Hours
(£50.00 per delegate)
The Health and Safety Executive HIGHLY recommends that all first aiders should receive annual refresher training.
This course provides your First Aiders with the opportunity to practice and update their practical skills. Refresh theoretical knowledge and ensures that they are kept up to date with the latest first aid guidelines.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and
Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
Level 2
This qualification can be offered bespoke to your organisation for a group of 6 staff for £375.
The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:
- Resuscitation Council (UK)
- Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications
This QA qualification outlines a range of knowledge and practical skills in providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely.
Learners will practise assessing and managing a casualty who needs CPR and the safe use of an AED. This qualification specification provides information for Centres about the delivery of the QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF) qualification and includes the unit information, assessment methods and quality assurance arrangements.
Objective
The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an AED.
Purpose
The purpose of this qualification is to assist the Learner to develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide CPR and use an AED in an emergency situation.
Intended Audience
This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to be able to provide CPR when dealing with an emergency which may involve using an AED.
